Travelers Championship Heads to Monday Playoff After Scheffler and Hovland Finish Tied at 21-Under

Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland will return Monday morning to decide the 2026 Travelers Championship after finishing regulation tied at 21-under.

Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland will return Monday morning to decide the 2026 Travelers Championship after finishing regulation tied at 21-under.

The 2026 Travelers Championship couldn’t be decided in regulation.

After four thrilling rounds at TPC River Highlands, Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland both finished at 21-under par, forcing a sudden-death playoff that will resume Monday morning after darkness prevented play from continuing.

An Epic Duel Between Golf’s Best

The final pairing delivered exactly what golf fans hoped for.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland traded birdies, clutch putts, and momentum swings throughout Sunday’s final round, separating themselves from the rest of the field.

Neither player could gain the decisive advantage, and both walked off the 18th green tied at 21-under, setting up a winner-take-all playoff.

Monday Morning Drama

With daylight running out, PGA Tour officials postponed the playoff until Monday morning.

The playoff will begin on the 18th hole at TPC River Highlands, with sudden-death rules determining the champion. It’s a rare Monday finish for one of the Tour’s premier Signature Events and gives fans one more day of elite golf.

What’s at Stake

For Scottie Scheffler, a victory would add another Signature Event title to an already remarkable season and further strengthen his hold as the world’s top-ranked player.

For Viktor Hovland, the win would mark one of the biggest victories of his comeback season and reaffirm his return among golf’s elite after rebuilding his swing over the past year.

Final Thoughts

It doesn’t get much better than this.

Two of the best players in the world. One hole. One trophy.

Golf fans will have one final chapter to enjoy Monday morning as Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland battle in sudden death to determine the 2026 Travelers Championship champion.
