Samsung Layoffs Hit Hundreds as U.S. HQ Moves to Plano
PLANO, Texas — Samsung Electronics is moving forward with a major restructuring of its U.S. operations. The company will cut hundreds of jobs while relocating its American headquarters from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, to Plano, Texas.
Samsung announced that 739 employees in New Jersey will either lose their jobs or receive relocation offers as the company consolidates its consumer electronics operations in North Texas. However, the move also affects Texas workers. Reports indicate at least 100 employees in Plano will also lose their jobs during the restructuring.
